The Homemade Porn monthly contest was our first ever DIY porn contest win. The cool thing was that we really didn’t even try to win, we were just posting our pictures and interacting with the community.

Since then, we’ve gone on to win it a few more times.

The payout isn’t as high a as some other sites, but you won’t find a lot of semi-pros here, like on some of the other sites that have bigger payouts, just “real people” and that makes this contest appealing.

Here’s the scoop on what you can earn and a strategy for winning this contest.

There are 4 prizes in the Homemade Porn monthly contest:

1st place: €300 (about $390)

2nd place: €200 (about $270)

3rd place: T-shirt

“Pick of the month” €200 (about $270) – this one is selected by the site administrators.

Winners are selected by the score of their submission and it’s calculated like this:

the average rating is multiplied by the number of people who actually rated the submission.

For example,

- submission 1 has an average rating of 8.25 and has been rated by 150 people = 1237.5

- submission 2 has an average rating of 9.5 and has been rated by 4 people = 38

So in this example, submission 1 wins because more people voted on it, even though submission 2 had a better rating.

Okay, if you’ve got that (not too hard, was it?), let’s move on to our strategy for winning this competition!

Step 1: Submit Photos, Not Video

Say what?!

Seriously, if you go back and review the top winners over the past few years, you’ll see that videos hardly ever place in the contest. Recently the site owner has made a point of choosing videos for the “pick of the month” to promote video on the site, but it’s photos that still seem to perform best on this site.

We think that one of the reasons for this is that each photo in a submission can be rated individually and this gives you the chance to have  higher average score, particularly if you have one or two really outstanding photos in your set.

Plus, we suspect that if a person rates three of your photos, this counts as 3 actual ratings – even though the person doing the rating is the same.  A video, on the other hand, is rated only once.

Step 2:  Ensure that your photos are a “set” of at least 10

Obviously you want to submit good quality pictures (check out our section on DIY TIPS) and you want to submit no less than  10 photos. We haven’t really seen any benefit from submitting more than 20, but your welcome to it.

Importantly, photos that are obviously taken at the same time or have the same theme seem to work better than 10 to 20 random shots. The audience at Homemade Porn seems to like these “sets” of pictures better and it’s not hard to understand why. It’s hot to see a couple go from dressed to nude and then to see the hardcore action.

If you can build a kind of story into the progression of your photos, you’ll be more engaging.

Step 2b: Test your pictures if you’re not sure

We recommend that if you’re new to this, or if you just want to be safe, go ahead and submit your photo set to a site like Zoig .com ot Yuvutu.com  (LINK TO ARTICLES) first to see how well they rate. Submit more pictures to one of these sites and then chose the top ranking ones for submission to Homemade Porn.

If you do use Zoig, I’d suggest the following calculation to determine which pictures are best: add together the number of times someone has made your picture a favorite and the number of comments and take that number and divide it by the number of views. The LOWER the score, the better the picture.

For example, you’ve submitted 2 pictures:

- picture 1 has been viewed 9500 times and has 62 favorites and 76 comments: 76+62= 138. Than 9500/138= 68.84

- picture 2 has been viewed 6000 times and has 120 favorites and 184 comments: 120+184= 304. Than 6000/304 = 19.73

Even though picture 1 has had more views, picture 2 is a better quality picture because more people have commented and made it favorite.

Step 3: Submit at the right time with the right name

The contest goes over the whole month and any submission is eligible.  Now, if you go to the home page of Homemadeporn.com, you see that the newest submissions are always towards the bottom of the page, listed according to the name of the submission.

The result is that you need to have a name that stands out and gets people to click through and view your nasty amateur photos.

Also, and this is really important, you need to submit your set of pictures at the right time. The newest submissions on the list are at the top-left side of the list and the oldest submission is at the bottom-right side of the list. As more submissions come in to the site, the older ones are pushed off to the right and eventually off the front page.

This means that the earlier you submit your pictures, the more chance you have of getting pushed off the front page sooner. That’s why we usually submit our pictures towards the middle of the month, and that’s what we suggest you do.

Step 4: Promote, promote, promote

As with most of these sites, it pays to interact with other visitors to the site if you are participating in a contest. There are several ways to do this on Homemade Porn.

Always take time to respond to those who’ve left comments on your submission. Thank them, flirt with them, engage them! This can not be underestimated and believe me, if people who are rating your pictures see that you are talking to others who’ve rated, they will want to talk to you too

Use the on-site blogs to get people interested in you and in your submission.

You’ll find the newest blog entries directly under the recent photos and videos. Unlike your submission, which has to stand on its own, you can make as many blog posts as you want. We suggest making at least two blog posts – one about any random topic, asking questions seem to help “do you like to swallow?“, and one about your submission.

If you can time your blog post about your submission to when it’s off the front page, or just about to be pushed off the front page, this will help get people back to looking at it and reviewing it.

Don’t forget to check out and reply to other people’s blogs. Comment on them, interact with them, be nice and they will be nice to you.

The same strategy goes for the Notice board. Get on it and start posting stuff, this will get more eyes on your submissions and hopefully more ratings.

Last but certainly not least, is that you use the webcam chat function of the site. It’s free and is another really excellent way of getting the attention of people who can rate your submission.
