A Review of Yuvutu.com

General

Yuvutu is another one of those sites that lives off the submissions of amateur couples like you and me. It’s a free video site, meaning that they let you watch the submitted videos and photos for free, but they do have a membership that you should register for if you want to post. This is also free. If you want to see the videos in higher quality, get unlimited access to videos, faster bandwidth, custom searches, download videos, etc. then the paid membership is for you.

It’s a very international site, with regular submissions from couples in the UK, Germany, Spain, Italy and France…as well as the USA. Your videos posted here are liable to get a lot of viewership and if they are good, you’ll get several comments. Unfortunately, this is a site where “trolls” like to hang out, so you might get some nasty comments from people. Protect yourself by not allowing any anonymous comments on your submissions (see Submitting, below). That way only people with a membership can comment. You’d be surprised at how this dissuades people from not saying anything nasty.

When you first land at Yuvutu’s home page you see the latest 24 submitted videos. There are filter tabs on the left side (under the heading “channel” and “filter”) and with these you can filter the kind of content that you’d like to see (e.g. straight, gay, TV/TS, etc.). This is a nice function that saves you from being confronted with things that you’d rather not see.

The content on the site covers the whole spectrum of amateur material. The quality is about what you’d expect from amateurs filming and photographing themselves in all sorts of lighting conditions with all sorts of cameras – the kind of people who haven’t read this blog There are some spectacularly good couples playing on this site and, frankly, part of the fun of enjoying amateur porn is the immediacy of realistic looking people. Those of you with an interest in non-shaved videos and photo’s will find a lot to enjoy here.

They also offer the ability to build playlists (you chose the movies that you want to watch first, then sit back and watch them play one after the other without having to click from page-to-page), blogs, member profiles, limited private messaging, an online chat function and a pay service for cams and “sex dating”.

The admin at Yuvutu is fast and responsive to requests to remove stolen content (has happened to us a few times) are dealt with very quickly and professionally.

Community

There are hundreds of thousands of people landing at this site daily. Despite that, we feel that the site lacks a real strong sense of community. Maybe it’s the language barrier (although they do offer forums in Spanish, English, French, Italian and German) or maybe it’s because the site gets more viewers than submitters. Whatever the case is, we do find the community feeling lacking here.

We have, however, met some nice folks on the site and actually gotten a few fans who regularly watch our vids, communicate with us and encourage us to post more. That’s cool!

Submitting

Anyone can submit and, in fact, if you submit, you can actually get a free membership on par with the paid membership. Here’s the deal:

“If you are not a paid Subscriber and the total number of views for your qualifying videos (your “YUVUTU Index”) is greater than 100,000 you automatically get access to premium features for free! Qualifying videos must be:

* Non-professional.
* Less than 6 months old.
* Rated at 3 stars or more.
* Your own (you must own the copyright).
* Not a duplicate (must only be uploaded once).

You will remain a Subscriber throughout the time that your YUVUTU index is greater than 100,000.”

This is great if you like to watch as much as submit and it helps in interacting with other couples, since you have more opportunity to communicate with them as a  full member. The only problem here is that it encourages some dishonest people to submit stolen content from other sites so that they can get the free membership. There’s not much you can do about it and we are willing to have that happen as long as we can enjoy the site at “full membership”.

The submission process is 2 steps. First you give your submission title, describe it, tag it, etc. and then, in step two on the next page, you chose the video or photo to be submitted. Maximum file size is 100 MB and the following file types are accepted: wmv, avi, mpg, mp4, or mpeg 4.

Be careful on the first step to pay attention to the following things on the first step, on the first page:
•    you can chose to allow people to download your videos. Thinks about this very seriously before you allow it.
•    you can disallow “linking” from other sites to your videos and photos. Site like Yuvutu often give out pictures and videos to people who will advertise for them. This kind of advertisement often happens in the form of TGP galleries; not allowing this keeps your videos and photos off these kind of places.
•    This is where you can chose to allow anonymous comments or not.
•    You must check the boxes under “conditions” and the 2257 Documentation in order to upload here.

There is really no quality check to what is uploaded, so if you’ve uploaded some good content, you’ll get loads of views because you’ll stand out from most of the others.

What could be better

It’s understandable that a free site has to earn money through advertisers, but it’s really annoying that all the content is surrounded by ads to Adult Friend Finder and all that kind of stuff. It can be very annoying and frankly, I’m not sure just how effective these things are in terms of making money…but that’s a discussion for another day.

The site is not very nice to look at, to be brutally honest and not always intuitive to use. You just know that there has to be lots of content to see, but it’s not always evident how to find specific stuff like “fucking outdoors”.

Let’s face it, they are making money off our content. It would be nice if we could at least compete in a contest to win some money on yuvutu like other sites do (HMP)

It would be nice if we could load flv and mov video formats, but that may not bother most folks.

The last thing that we’ll mention is the capcha  that you have to enter when you login…very very annoying.

What we love

This site is so well visited, that it’s a great place to “test” your videos and photos for popularity before you go onto submit them to money making sites.

Despite the trolls, there are some really nice folks out there and we’ve built up quite a fan base here – people with whom we communicate regularly.

This is a great site for getting more viewers to your other sites or to pay-per-view video sites. Once you’ve got a loyal audience, some won’t mind paying a few dollars to see more of you. Yuvutu allows you to add your own watermarks to the videos, so it’s easy to include an e-mail or website address to your viewers.

Did we mention that there are some really hot couples posting here? Oh yes, there are indeed!

Final words

Yuvutu is a well visited fun site with a load of content to offer. It’s also an easy place to get a feel about the quality of your content before you decide to post them on pay sites and it’s also a great place to get some loyal followers of your own homemade porn.

Despite some small annoyances with the heavy handed adverting on the site and the fact that there are some nasty folks out there who just love to say mean things to the amateur couples that post here, it’s well worth visiting this site regularly.
